Tame Your Fiery Locks

Rona O’Connor  answered more of your red hair questions. This time, she answered a question from a How to be a Redhead twitter follower. @HannahVPrice asked:

Any tips on how to blow dry hair that’s four times bigger than normal?

Rona: Hi Hannah!

Depending on how much “four times bigger than normal” is to you, could in reality be 3x or 10x more to another person.

In other words, it’s hard to tell without seeing it.

But if it’s taking an hour or more to blow-dry to get it really straight, you have a few options to try:

1. There are several products out there that claim to blow dry the hair in less time. I would try: Blow Dry Your Hair Faster Wonder Spray.

2. Use an ionic blow dryer, which blow-dries the hair faster from the inside out.

3. Use vented and metal brushes that heat up while drying.

4. Blow dry some of the moisture out of the hair before tackling it with brushes.  Then section it into manageable sections that you can dry one at a time, which can be very time efficient once you get the hang of it.

5. If your hair is coarse or curly, use an anti-humectant to create a protective barrier against humidity (which will undo any blow dry) or simply a finishing smoothing serum.

6. You could go back to one of the old-time methods of wrapping your hair, which was popular in the 70′s.  It involves wrapping your hair very tightly, when wet.

7. The other way would be to partially dry the hair to get the moisture out then use a smoothing product that is Keratin based.
