Red: A Forever Fashion Statement

Red: A Forever Fashion Statement

With today being The Heart Foundation‘s National Wear Red Day, we thought there may be some women actually dying their hair red, or women thinking about about it!

Many magazines are claiming red hair is just a “trend,” but it’s more than that, it’s a forever fashion statement.

Jason Backe, Celebrity Colorist with L’Oreal Professionnel at Ted Gibson Salon recently did an interview with Hollywoodlife.com about the questions women should ask themselves before dying their hair red!

How to be a Redhead agrees with asking yourself these questions:

  • Does it fit your personality? He said, “I always think that a redheaded woman is not a wilted flower. She’s either the smouldering temptress or the funny friend (think Lucille Ball)… “
  • Are you ready for the comments? “When you dye your hair red, you’re making a statement so be ready for reactions, both good and bad. Not ready for the opinions? You might reconsider.”
  • Can you handle the commitment? “Red is a lot of maintenance, so you have to commit to your colorist, the salon and the money it will take to make sure it looks great. You’ll need to visit every three weeks to keep it looking fresh. “

But not this one:

  • Do you know your complexion? “Here’s a rule of thumb: the darker your complexion, the more you should avoid copper and orange hues because they’ll look cheap. Conversely, the lighter your complexion and your eyes, the more you can get away with.”

Why? Because there are so many shades of red that can compliment any skin color! Not everyone needs to have pale skin and bright red hair– we’ve seen many dark skinned ladies with deep red tones and we love it.

By: Liz Washer How you take it off is just as important as how you put it on. I’m saying this from experience. Bad, bad experience. See, I have dry skin. And it turns out, I have skin that is very sensitive to harsh cleansers. For the better part of, oh, 2005, I was scrubbing my makeup off every night
