Protect Your Fair Skin Today

.. especially if you live in the northeastern part of the U.S.

The snow is piled as high as the sky and any minute now it will be time for us to go outside and shovel. We’ll protect our skin with gloves, hats, scarves, coats, boots… and lotion. In the past, we have forgotten to take care of our redheaded skin in the blistering cold and as a result, we cracked & pealed.

Not today!

We use Nimli’s Napa Soap Lavender Grapeseed Oil Lotion ($17). We love this lotion because it has real grapeseed oil in its ingredients, which is hard to find. It is a natural oil with many vitamins– some say it even lowers cholesterol! We believe in using grapeseed oil as much as we do vitamin E.

This lotion protects our skin from the harsh winter winds and keeps us feeling baby soft all year long.

Recently, we were out of lotion and made our own! It’s not difficult and surprisingly, we loved it.

We used:

1 1/4 cup hot water
1/4 cup bees wax
1/4 cup grapeseed oil or olive oil

2 small pans

In one pan, we gently heated grape seed oil and beeswax together until beeswax was melted

Pour the hot water into the wax/oil mixture and watch it turn white

Pour the lotion into a container with lid and cool completely

(We usually do these projects at night, so we allow about 12 hours of cooling time)
