11 Best Redhead Looks at the SAG Awards

They set the red carpet on fire!

By: Annajo Terrill

Another awards show is in the books!  If you caught the Screen Actors Guild Awards last weekend, you saw firsthand the gorgeous gowns and radiant redheads who walked the red carpet.  And, if you missed it, well, that’s what we’re here for. Allow us to catch you up on our favorite part of the show.

Here’s a quick red carpet recap:

1. Julianne Moore

A red carpet staple–Julianne Moore let her red locks flow free tonight and reminded us why redheads look so great in green by wearing this Givenchy Couture gown and Chopard jewelry.

2. Susan Sarandon + Eva Amurri

One of our favorite mother daughter duos. They made quite the impression on the red carpet this weekend in Max Mara and Gabriela Cadena, also opting to leave their red hair down in loose waves.

3. Amy Poehler

She stayed on trend with her free-flowing red locks and was the epitome of class in this black Stella McCartney number and Brian Atwood shoes.

4. Nicole Kidman

Looks like Ms. Kidman also got the loose waves memo, and provided us with a pop of color, donning these light pink and purple hues which redheads are often taught to avoid.  The longer I look at this Gucci dress, the more I love it.  Thanks for helping bust that color myth, Nicole.

5. Kate Mara

At the side of her sister, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress this weekend, Kate Mara mixed it up a little by pulling her red hair back and wearing this sheer Valentino gown.

6. Sophie Turner

Also opting to pull her red hair back, Sophie Turner rocked this classic ponytail and gorgeous, navy, off-the-shoulder number by Carolina Herrera.

7. Christina Hendricks

And speaking of updos, one of my favorite hairstyles from the weekend was worn by Christina Hendricks.  She looked so elegant with her strawberry coiffure, dangling diamond earrings, and dress by Christian Siriano.

8. Eddie Redmayne

Don’t let me get carried away and forget the token man on our list.  Eddie Redmayne may not have been able to beat out Dicaprio for the SAG Award tonight, but he was a winner on the red carpet in this navy blue tuxedo by Dior Homme.

9. Ellie Kemper

Now back to those loose red waves–the always funny Ellie Kemper caught my eye right away in this fantastic dress by Peter Pilotto.  Ellie has such a fun and bubbly personality, and she usually dresses to match.  Her style is anything but boring, and I love it.

10. Hannah Murray

Honestly, before last weekend, I wouldn’t have said that Hannah Murray was a woman to watch for on the red carpet, but she wore what is probably overall my favorite look from the night.  First of all, she stayed on trend with her long, loose, red waves (and what a gorgeous color of red, by the way!)

Secondly, she wore yellow–another color redheads are often taught to avoid–and she looked absolutely stunning in it!  The only other redhead I’ve seen wear yellow this well on the red carpet is Jessica Chastain, and if you’re keeping up with J Chas, you’re a winner in my book.  This dress is by Charlie Brear, and I can’t wait to see what else Murray has in store for us this awards season.

11. Carol Burnett

The redhead comedy icon received her Life Achievement honor at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. But, that didn’t stop her from being comfortable! She rocked slippers with her custom gown. Bob Mackie, who created the Burnett Show‘s signature fashions, designed her SAG Awards gown. The designer, who sat with Burnett’s at the show, said his goal was to “make her look pretty and nice. (The dress) is emerald green. That’s the color she asked for. It looks pretty good on a redhead.”
